More about Naturopathy & Musculoskeletal therapy
NATUROPATHY is a system of healthcare that recognises the body's innate ability to heal itself, 'The Healing Power of Nature' or 'Vis Medicatrix Naturae'. As an holistic system it aims to promote and restore health by employing various natural treatment approaches that may include: naturopathic nutrition, lifestyle advice, hydrotherapy, physical therapy, naturopathic psychosocial support and other appropriate techniques.
Naturopathic practitioners interpret presenting symptoms as the individual’s unique response to physical, emotional, environmental or genetic stress factors which can be identified by asking about your family history. The practitioner’s role is to identify these underlying causes and to promote the inherent self-healing power within the individual. Naturopathy is also a way of life and the naturopath will help empower individuals through education about lifestyle, diet and exercise.
I specialise in supporting people who have gastrointestinal problems, anything from reflux, bloating, IBS, diarrhoea or constipation.
Another specialist interest is with fatigue. Chronic tiredness, such as ME or CFS, has become a common problem in this modern age, especially when people are under a lot of stress or have suffered chronic stress during their lives. Stress affects the hormonal system and can lead to imbalances, such as from the thyroid or adrenal glands, or even from low blood sugar levels.
I love the 'detective' work helping to figure out the causes of a person's ill health. Most people have multiple symptoms they suffer from and it is important to figure out the causes so that these can all be supported. Frequently it is necessary to use lab testing to determine the underlying causes of complex health problems and dysfunctions. These would be either blood, urine or stool tests. Such tests can be essential to fully understand and treat the underlying causes of ill health. For example I am using Functional blood testing
Food sensitivity tests are also very useful when patients have difficulty loosing weight, chronic skin problems such as eczema, psoriasis, migraines, chronic sinusitis, and chronic digestive problems such as IBS. Such tests will measure sensitivities of 176 different foods, colourings, and additives.

Colon Hydrotherapy will often complement naturopathic treatment and gives it an extra dimension, especially with digestive problems or when support with detoxification is needed.
MUSCULOSKELETAL THERAPY is a system of diagnosis and treatment concerned with the structure and mechanical problems of the body. It uses manipulation, neuro-muscular techniques, massage, stretching, and exercises.
Backache is most frequently treated, as well as pain in all parts of the body from injury, accident, overstraining, and wear and tear. It helps to support many types of arthritic & rheumatic pain, injuries of many sorts, backache, headaches, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, cramps and sciatica.
When considering Musculoskeletal therapy, it might be helpful to think of the treatment as returning the body to a state free of the muscle tightness, which in time has pulled the spine out of alignment, or stressed the joints causing pain.
I often use the handheld miHealth device for musculo-skeletal treatments. This type of energy treatment is often very beneficial, especially with a problem such as chronic muscle tension, a torn muscle or injury. I have used the miHealth for over ten years continuously and wouldn't be without it!
